THE sports pavilion at Gardiner recreation ground in Goring was vandalised on Saturday.

THE sports pavilion at Gardiner recreation ground in Goring was vandalised on Saturday.

The culprits climbed on the roof of the building during the night, shattering several roof tiles.

They also tried to kick down the door, which left dents and cracked the frame, and left the area strewn with empty beer cans.

It is believed the vandals had bicycles as there were tyre tracks on the ground.

Goring parish council, which is responsible for the pavilion, is yet to assess the cost of the damage. It has reported the incident to the police.

Council chairman Alan Strong said the repairs would be “unnecessary expenditure”.
