A MAN who stole from his employer has been given a 20-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.

A MAN who stole from his employer has been given a 20-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.

James Surita admitted six charges of theft from Dunne & Co in Chalkhouse Green in June and July. Oxford Magistrates’ Court heard on Monday that he had been given permission to use the company account to buy items with the agreement that he had the payments deducted from his salary.

Surita began to abuse this privilege and started behaving suspiciously at work, arriving for an hour and then leaving in a hurry. Permission to use the company account was withdrawn in May after he purchased a £420 drill without permission.

After he was sacked for failing to turn up to work, Dunne & Co received a bill for goods that it had not ordered. It was also discovered that £754 worth of goods had been intercepted by Surita.

Suirta, 33, of Skylark Way, Shinfield, was ordered to pay compensation of £1,119.33, an £80 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.
