A MAN was killed when his car collided with a lorry on the A4130 near Nettlebed yesterday (Thursday).

The emergency services were called to the scene, about one mile west of Nettlebed, at 6.26am and the driver was pronounced dead.

Police closed the road in both directions between the junctions with the B481 and Huntercombe End for several hours.

No official diversion was put in place but traffic to Henley was forced to go via Benson, Watlington, Pishill, Stonor and Lower Assendon. Drivers warned other motorists about the closure on Twitter.

In 2010, Percival Raby, 80, from Woodley, died on the same road after a Honda collided with his Vauxhall. The driver of the Honda, Dereck St Clair, of Imperial Court, Henley, was given a suspended prison sentence.
