MAGICIAN Paul Daniels avoided a driving ban after telling a court he needed his licence to care for his elderly mother

MAGICIAN Paul Daniels avoided a driving ban after telling a court he needed his licence to care for his elderly mother.

Daniels, who lives in Wargrave, already had nine penalty points when he was clocked travelling at 56mph in a 40mph zone in Earley in July.

Oxford Magistrates gave him three more which took him to the disqualifying total of 12 but said they would not enforce a ban.

Daniels, who lives with Radio Berkshire presenter wife Debbie McGee, was ordered to pay a £625 fine, costs of £65, and a £62 victim surcharge.
