A MAN has been orderd to pay more than £1,800 after admitting smashing the window of a Henley sports shop.
Kevin McGarvey, 32, of Marina Way, Abingdon, pleaded guilty to one count of criminal damage when he appeared at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
He smashed the window of Henley Sports in Greys Road on August 17 last year. He was charged on November 28.
McGarvey was ordered to pay £1,175.96 compensation to the the shop’s owner Alan Mann, fined £380 and told to pay £320 in costs.
Mr Mann said: “I’m very pleased that it’s a positive outcome and that he has been made to pay for his error. I never hold a grudge.”
He said that fortunately there was no impact on his trade at the time.
He would now be able to afford to replace the broken widow which has been boarded up since the incident.
