A DRIVER of a dust cart who ploughed into a stationary car on the A4074 near Woodcote, killing its passenger, has been convicted of causing death by dangerous driving.

Adam Lipowski, 42, from Tilehurst, was texting on his mobile phone as he drove his 15-tonne truck towards Reading and shunted a Subaru into the path of an oncoming Ford Focus outside the Oratory School.

The Subuara driver, Michael Jennings, 69, from Hungerford, was seriously injured and his passenger, Andrew Evans, from Thatcham, was killed.

Lipowski was found guilty at Oxford Crown Court on Friday and will be sentenced on May 5.

Clive Dytor, headmaster of the Oratory, has campaigned for speed cameras to be installed on the A4074 outside the school, where two people have died in just over a year.
