‘Pathetic’ thieves target surgery

THIEVES who stole two wheelchairs from the Hart Surgery in Henley have been branded “pathetic”.

THIEVES who stole two wheelchairs from the Hart Surgery in Henley have been branded “pathetic”.

The chairs, which are used to help patients get to the surgery from the car park in York Road, were taken from the lobby of the building last week.

They are both navy blue with a chrome frame and one has “the Hart Surgery” written on it.

Sarah Moberley, the surgery manager, said one woman had already complained she couldn’t bring her elderly father to the surgery without a wheelchair.

She said: “If patients can’t come to the surgery then what these people have done is pathetic.

“If someone comes in and urgently needs a wheelchair we couldn’t do much. I guess we could go over to Townlands Hospital and ask to borrow one.”

Mrs Moberley said she wasn’t sure when the theft happened.

“The two wheelchairs were in our lobby, which unfortunately is very accessible.

“We have not reported it to the police yet because of what happened last year when one went missing and was returned 10 days later.”

She appealed to anyone with a spare wheelchair that they could donate to the surgery to make contact.

She said: “If we get another one we will make it very obvious that it is ours by marking it very clearly. I do not know why someone would take one anyway.”
