A SHOP worker in Henley has been issued with a fixed penalty notice by police after being found selling alcohol to someone under the age of 18.
The neighbourhood police team and the Oxfordshire licensing officer carried out a test purchasing operation in 10 off-licences and shops in the town centre ahead of this week’s Henley Royal Regatta. Nine passed but one failed.
Inspector Mark Harling, head of Henley police, said: “Although this operation had been planned months in advance, the need to conduct such an operation was highlighted two weeks prior when officers were alerted to the possibility of a party in Mill Meadows involving up to 300 young people.”
