TWO cash machines in Henley have been targeted by scammers.

TWO cash machines in Henley have been targeted by scammers.

A machine at the Esso service station and another at the Tesco supermarket, both off Reading Road, are said to have been affected.

The scammers, who are thought to be based in India, attempted to withdraw sums totalling hundreds of pounds from the accounts of people using the machines.

The customers were contacted by their banks warning of ?unusual? account activity and cancelled the transactions.

Diane Prime, from Henley, said the scammers tried to withdraw several sums of £103 from her accounts but her banks intervened.

She said she had used the cash machine at Tesco and it appeared to be working normally.

People who have been targeted have posted warnings online advising other users to avoid the machines.

Ms Prime said: ?I would hate to think that some pensioners would have their money taken by these swine.?
