Woman confronts burglars inside her home

A WOMAN in her Seventies confronted two masked burglars inside her home in Middle Assendon

A WOMAN in her Seventies confronted two masked burglars inside her home in Middle Assendon.

Police said she came across the men in her kitchen after hearing a suspicious noise at about 10.50pm on Sunday.

When she challenged them they continued to search the house before leaving through a bedroom window.

They escaped with her purse containing her bank cards and cash.

The pair had entered the property in The Green through a window which had been left unlocked.

Police are linking the burglary with similar incidents in Couching Street, Watlington, and Wantage Road, Wallingford, on the same night and are appealing for witnesses.

Det Sgt Francesca Jarvis said: “We’d like to hear from anyone who might have seen or heard something suspicious at the above locations around the time of the incidents.

“Burglaries are often upsetting for the victims and unsettling for neighbours and the local community.

“We’re supporting these victims and would like to reassure the public, particularly the elderly living on their own and their families and friends, that we are here to help and that anyone who is concerned can call us.”The men are described as white, aged 18 or 19, about 5ft 7in. Both had covered faces.

Anyone with information should call Thames Valley Police in 101.
