Man dies after Caversham car accident

A PEDESTRIAN died after a collision involving two cars in Caversham yesterday (Saturday).

A PEDESTRIAN died after a collision involving two cars in Caversham yesterday (Saturday).

A blue Vauxhall Astra and a blue Ford Fiesta were involved in the incident in Albert Road, at the junction with Highmoor Road, just after 10.30am.

A pedestrian, a man, was injured during the incident. He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, via land ambulance. An air ambulance also landed at the scene to provide assistance.

Sadly, the man later died of his injuries. His next of kin has been informed. Albert Road was closed while officers carried out investigations, and while the vehicles were recovered. The road reopened just after 2pm.

Sergeant Darren Brown, of the roads policing unit based at Three Mile Cross, said: “I would appeal to anyone with any information about the collision who hasn’t already spoken to police to come forward.

“If you witnessed the collision or have any information that may aid our investigation please call us via 101, or visit your nearest police station.”
