Calls to repair cracks in old wall

A RESIDENTS’ leader is calling for repairs to be carried out to a wall along a walkway in Henley.

A 25ft section of the wall alongside the path between Greys Road and Gainsborough Hill was cracked after water got into the brickwork over the winter.

The walkway, known locally as the pram walk, is the responsibility of housing association Soha, which has offered to repaint the 5ft wall and refit the handrail.

But David Eggleton, of the Gainsborough Residents’ Association, claims more needs to be done to maintain the brickwork.

He said: “This will be the first work that has been done on the pram walk since the Forties when it was put in. If there is a crack in the paintwork then frost will get into it and it will expand and another piece will fall off.
