Christmas parade aid

VOLUNTEERS are needed to help with Goring’s Christmas Eve torchlight parade.

About 3,000 people are expected to take part in the march from the top of High Street and over the bridge to Streatley Meadows, where it concludes with a bonfire and short carol service.

Organisers need at least 60 marshals to guide participants and direct traffic as well as volunteers for other roles, such as first aid and procuring supplies of torches that are handed out on the night, traffic barriers and walkie-talkies for the marshals.

People are also needed to liaise in advance with the public, businesses and the emergency services and to write health and safety plans.

Anyone who can help should call Keith Jackson on (01491) 872866 or Ron Bridle on (01491) 875283.
