Henley Round Table presented a cheque for £6,800 to Bishopswood Special School at a Christmas celebration.
All 55 pupils of the school in Sonning Common attended the party in the ballroom at Phyllis Court Club in Henley. The room was decorated with multi-coloured balloons and a Christmas tree and the children played with toys and were served party food and drink.
Children’s entertainer Fred In The Shed played festive games with the the youngters and made them laugh by singing silly songs.
At the end Father Christmas gave out presents. Round Table, which funds the event each year, then presented the cheque — the proceeds rom its 43rd annual fireworks display held at Swiss Farm in November. The money will go towards the upkeep of the school’s new £39,000 minibus, which was delivered in September.
Round Table chairman Trevor Michel said: “It went brilliantly. It was lovely to see the children having such a great time. The children always love coming here and are very excited to meet Santa.” Bishopswood headteacher Janet Kellett said: “We wouldn’t be able to afford this so we are extremely grateful for the support. It means a lot to the children and makes them very happy.”
