Now Pilates is as easy as ABC for children as well as adults

PILATES ABC Henley is owned by local resident Alyth Yealland.

PILATES ABC Henley is owned by local resident Alyth Yealland.

“I am so proud of my clients’ achievements — I see their improvements week by week,” she says.

“My focus is to teach my clients how to improve their movement and posture. Classes are small to ensure a good teacher-client ratio.”

Alyth, who is DBS-registered, teaches group matwork classes and private sessions for all levels of fitness for both adults and children.

Lynn Robinson of Body Control Pilates, who Alyth trained with, says: “Compared to other fitness classes that tend to focus on one muscle group, what makes Pilates an all-rounder is it conditions your whole body so your entire musculature is modified.”

Benefits include flexibility, strength, preventing injury, aiding back and joint pain, boosting breathing and balance.

Sessions are available for children, antenatal and postnatal clients, balance, diastasis recti (separated tummy muscles), arthritis, breathing, falls prevention, hip and knee replacements, osteopaenia/osteoporosis, Parkinson’s and scoliosis.

Pilates ABC runs small classes for the community in Henley, Crazies Hill, Hurley, Knowl Hill and Sonning Common.

The classes are suitable for all ages and abilities, including those in their eighties and upwards.

A free group matwork taster is available for all newcomers. Beginners are welcome.
