YOGAHENLEY classes, which take place at Henley YMCA and now at the PureStretch Studio, offer Hatha Yoga inspired by the work of Italian yoga teacher Vanda Scaravelli.

Scaravelli was originally taught by the late BKS Iyengar but she went on to develop her own unique approach which is the foundation of much contemporary bodywork.

This yoga does not push or order the body into shape, but aims to release tension, work with gravity and free the breath.

Classes are unhurried and students come to each asana, or sequence, with curiosity — allowing the natural intelligence of the body to take over. Every type of body loves this form of yoga — sporty or not, flexible or stiff, young or old.

It brings a wonderful sense of freedom and wellbeing. YogaHenley classes embrace the spirit of Scaravelli’s approach while including dynamic sequences and elements of mindfulness. Classes began yesterday (Thursday) but students can drop-in at any time.
