Leading spinal physiotherapist joins team

TWYFORD is set to become a local spinal physiotherapy centre of excellence after the recent addition

TWYFORD is set to become a local spinal physiotherapy centre of excellence after the recent addition of physiotherapist Carol Ann King MSc, MCSP, MMACP to the Physiocare, Twyford, practice.

Of the 11 Manipulation Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP) working in Berkshire today, three can now be found at Physiocare, Twyford.

The MACP is an advanced and highly regarded qualification awarded for the management of neuro–musculoskeletal problems. Carol Ann has particular expertise in the treatment of backs and necks, adding to Physiocare’s specialist team of spinal therapists that includes Elizabeth Jones and Mindy Cairns, who are also MACP qualified.

Physiocare has been in the heart of Twyford for more than 20 years. Elizabeth Jones, who opened the first Physiocare clinic in 1992, has maintained a philosophy of ensuring clinical excellence by attracting eminently qualified and talented physiotherapists.

In 1987 Carol Ann qualified as a chartered physiotherapist, with distinction, from University College, Salford.

Since then she has gained an impressive clinical résumé. This includes being in charge of the musculoskeletal outpatient service at St Mary’s teaching hospital, London and serving as the consultant specialist physiotherapist to the consultant neurological team at the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford.

Carol Ann is a leader in her field, working as a clinical tutor and examiner for the MACP, teaching many senior physiotherapists over the years. She has also lectured on musculoskeletal dysfunction, both independently and as an invited lecturer to physiotherapists and other professional groups.

For many years she has been a member of the expert witness list held by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. In this role she has undertaken investigations on behalf of the Health Service Commissioner for England and Wales (the Health Service Ombudsman).

Frequently involving the protection of patients from malpractice, Carol Ann’s medico–legal work reinforces Physiocare’s absolute commitment to clinical ethics.

To contact Carol Ann or one of the team at Physiocare about any back or neck issues you may have simply email physio@physiocare.co.uk or call 0118 934 4055.
