VANESSA Mansergh, sports and remedial masseuse, teaches pilates at the beautiful Friends Meeting House in Henley.

The quiet, spacious room with natural daylight encourages focus and a deep sense of relaxation.

Vanessa was inspired to train as a clinical pilates instructor after experiencing its benefits with her back injury.

Specific stretches for the legs, and mobilising and core strengthening exercises for the spine and torso enabled Vanessa to return to her physical job.

Pilates is beneficial for everyone, from the athlete to the office worker. It helps to improve posture, and suppleness and alleviates tension in the neck, shoulders, back and hips. The majority spend too much time bent forwards over a desk, picking up a child, hoovering or gardening.

Backs love movement and need to bend backwards, sideways and to rotate from side to side. Pilates encourages these movements in standing, sitting and lying down postures while strengthening the muscles that support the back correctly, safely and slowly.

Vanessa is offering a half-price private session to anyone booking on to the next course of classes to introduce/review the basics, starting on Wednesday, October 21, at 6pm.

Please call Vanessa on 07906 186912 or email vmansergh@hotmail.com
