WORK to extend the clubhouse at Henley Rugby Club started on Monday.
A bar and offices are being knocked through to create seating for around 200 people, about 60 more than at present.
The £20,000 project is part of the Rugby Football Union’s legacy programme, which aims to improve clubs across the country ahead of next year’s world cup.
The Hawks raised £10,000 from members, which was matched by the RFU.
The club also plans to refurbish the clubhouse and create four new changing rooms for which it has planning permission.
