Food and drink menus were a joy to pore over

HOTEL du Vin in Henley is an absolute delight for a whole range of social occasions.

HOTEL du Vin in Henley is an absolute delight for a whole range of social occasions.

With its beautiful architecture, prime location by the river and staff who will always go the extra mile to help you, this really is an absolute find.

Greeted with warm smiles and great hospitality, myself and a friend sat in the comfy, yet contemporary bar area to enjoy a pre—dinner aperitif.

The choice of fine spirits, wines and custom—made cocktails in a beautiful setting was a joy to deliberate over.

Selecting a glass of champagne (with strawberry of course) seemed an obvious choice, which we enjoyed until our freshly cooked meals were announced.

On adjourning to the restaurant area we were welcomed with freshly warmed bread, the offer of water at the table — and a menu to cause an intake of breath!

Opting for a selection to try, we ordered two small salads to commence our culinary journey, which comprised high quality mozzarella, barrel—aged feta, firm and colourful tomatoes to add some aesthetic pizzazz, and an aged balsamic dressing to blend everything together beautifully. And then came the most succulent lobster we had every tried — in a very generous portion too.

We chose to conclude with a shared cheese board, as the preceding courses had been so perfectly filling.

This was, again, beautifully presented — with just the right combination of full flavour and palate cleanser.

It has to be said that the Hotel du Vin’s al fresco menu is a perfect combination of fresh summer flavours, with a hint of decadence.

We cannot wait to visit again and watch the day merge into night with beautiful company, hospitality — and supreme food, provided by an establishment that deserves to succeed.
