TOBY NOWELL continued his rich vein of form for WOODCOTE STOKE ROW by scoring his fourth goal in two games in his side’s 2-1 away win over BERKS COUNTY.
Despite a lethargic start to the tie, the visitors took the lead in the 18th minute with a great team goal.
Jake Dillon’s pinpoint cross from the right saw Toby Nowell head back across goal for Ryan Corbett to head home.
The Bracknell-based home side were not in arrears for long as the left-winger cut-in from a wide position and rifled the ball beyond Kane Roberts to make it 1-1.
Woodcote were stung into action by this goal and took complete control of the game.
A string of good crosses should have led to goals but the early-season problem of wayward finishing returned to haunt them.
However, with the half drawing to a close Woodcote scored what turned out to be the winner.
Good link-up play between Gareth Evans and Jake Dillon led to an incisive reverse pass to Nowell who beat his defender and smashed the ball into the top corner.
The second-half proved to be disappointing, with few chances created on either side and Woodcote comfortably holding on for the win.
This followed Woodcote’s 4-0 home win over NEWBURY on Wednesday last week, in which Toby Nowell scored a hat-trick.
Elsewhere in the division, ROTHERFIELD UNITED failed to hold on to their lead away at WOODLEY UNITED RESERVES as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat.
Omar Cofie gave the visitors 1-0 lead going into the breaking, scoring on 43 minutes.
But after the restart Woodley turned the tables with Greg Taylor scoring on 48 minutes. They then took the lead on 67 minutes through Stephen Hannah and managed to hold on for the win.
