HENLEY HURRICANES U10s kicked off their new East Berks League season with a 6-0 win away
HENLEY HURRICANES U10s kicked off their new East Berks League season with a 6-0 win away at BRACKNELL TOWN U10s on Saturday.
Debutant Sam Winters had a good start to his Henley career scoring early from a Tom Yeoman corner.
In what was a fiercely contested encounter the Hurricanes pressed home their advantage as Olly Saunders popped up at the far post to add another.
The Hurricanes were now playing some free flowing football and a 30 yard cross field pass by Tom Atkinson set up Tom Bonsor who finished superbly to make it 3-0 at half-time.
The second half continued in the same vein as the Hurricanes were driven forward by the midfield duo of Joe Turner and Tom Yeoman with both players unfortunate not to score.
On the wings both Nicolai Bruun-Andersen and Finnbar Scott displayed neat footwork. One of these runs resulted in a corner from which Winters added another and then he bulldozed his way through the Bracknell defence to complete his hat-trick.
Captain Luca Thomson marshalled his players well in defence and, after coming up for a corner, scored the final goal of the game.
In goal Ben Horner dealt with everything that was thrown at him and made some excellent saves to keep a clean sheet.
GORING ROBINS U15s started their East Berkshire League division 2 campaign with 4-3 win at WOODLEY HAMMERS U15s.
After 30 minutes Woodley had raced into a 3-0 lead following defensive errors and a penalty.
Bertie Spencer gave Goring hope with a goal just before half time and a strong second-half display saw a goal from Matthew Bell and two from James Pearson secured the victory.
