HOSTS WOODCOTE/STOKE ROW secured a Premier Division point in their top-of-the-table clash at home to MARLOW UNITED in a full-blooded encounter.
The home side had slightly more possession in the first half, but home keeper, Kane Roberts, was slightly busier than his opposite number, having to make a couple of smart saves.
The nearest Woodcote came to a goal in the first half was Sam Green’s header at the far post from Gareth Evans’s free kick, scrambled to safety by a Marlow defender.
As half-time approached Jake Dillon shot over after he had been found by a long throw from twin-brother Frank. The Dillon combination was not to be denied and seven minutes into the second-half it gave Woodcote the lead. Frank’s corner saw Jake get away from his marker and head powerfully into the bottom corner for 1-0.
Marlow hit back and, after a period of sustained pressure equalised after 65 minutes through Andy Nichol. Thereafter chances were few and far between as the match ended all square.
In Division 2 WOODCOTE/STOKE ROW RESERVES secured their first win of the season as they triumphed 4-2 at TAPLOW UNITED RESERVES.
The visitors’ goals were scored by Andy Taylor, Jonny Clark, Adam Wheeler and an own goal.
In Division 3 ROTHERFIELD UNITED RESERVES crashed to a 6-2 defeat at WOODLEY UNITED A. Daniel Priest and Glenroy Yearwood were the scorers for Rotherfield.
WARGRAVE RESERVES ran out 1-0 winners in their Division 4 home match with WOODLEY UNITED B in a hard fought match with few clear-cut chances. Richard Lucas netted from the penalty spot for the hosts.
