Unity hit back to take allthe points at Bishopswood

HEAVY rain on Friday of last week once again led to more than half of Saturday’s fixtures being postponed. In all just 12 of the 28 scheduled matches took place.

In Division 2 the match between bottom-of-the-table GORING UNITED RESERVES and league leaders ELDON CELTIC went to form with the visitors running out comfortable 4-0 winners.

Elsewhere in the division WOODCOTE/STOKE ROW RESERVES, playing their first match since December 14, crashed to a 4-0 defeat at home to promotion-chasing COMPTON.

The hosts made a bright start and could have taken an early lead when Tom Brownlow’s slide-rule through ball put Carl Smith in the clear but the shot was straight at the visiting keeper and he held it comfortably.

This proved to be the only real clear-cut chance created by the home side all afternoon. Compton, also playing their first match of the year, took the lead after 25 minutes when a through ball eluded the home defence and Halls rounded keeper, Mike Stroker, to slot home.
