A LATE goal by Stuart Macllenan secured Hambleden all three Wycombe and District Senior Division points against visitors Prestwood on Saturday.
Four minutes into the match a flighted Prestwood delivery saw an unmarked player arrive fractionally late at the Hambleden far post and the striker was unable to guide the ball goalwards.
The Hambleden defence of James Rodrigues, Chris Brunning and Duane Brian were comfortable under pressure ably assisted by Mike Wilkins and Matt Cook in midfield, limiting their opponents to shots from distance.
Ross Hathaway was at full stretch in the Hambleden goal to turn a shot round the post and then had to be alert to palm away a dipping free kick moments later.
At the other end Macllenan fed Simon Hathaway in behind the Prestwood rearguard. The Hambleden striker pushed the ball too wide before finding himself in the referee’s book after protestations when the ball was lost.
