Town have last shot at victory after run of defeats
HENLEY Town entertain old rivals Chalfont Wasps tomorrow in Division 1 (East) of the Hellenic League, kick-off at 3pm, writes John Bailey.
Now that it has been ruled - quite justly - that the final score of 4-2 to the visitors will stand in the match against Wokingham that was abandoned after 88 minutes, this will be the Town’s last chance to register a win from a run of three successive home matches.
Wasps stand at the foot of the table at present, but they have had a peculiar campaign thus far.
Against Didcot and Easington they conceded a total of 15 goals, yet they have taken points off Wokingham and Finchampstead, who look to be two of the season’s stronger sides.
The most extraordinary feature about the 57 previous meetings since the teams first met 40 years ago is that they have produced but a single draw, Henley having won 31 times compared with Chalfont’s 25.
