GORING ROBINS U12s suffered an 8-5 defeat away to Wokingham and Emmbrook U12s in the Berkshire Youth Development League on Saturday.
An even first half gave no indication of the defensive errors to come during a second half that was to leave the Robins without a win this league season.
Captain Will Wakelam was moved up to an attacking midfield role due to absences and rotations, and he responded with a first half hat-trick of well taken goals, assisted by the creation of Will Graham, Ollie Minihan and James Plumridge. Wokingham kept scoring as well, sending the teams in 3-3 at half-time.
In the second half a catalogue of errors, some poor defending and two own goals allowed Wokingham to score five goals.
Late goals by Harry Kirk and Lewis Rossi — his first goal for Goring Robins — reduced the arrears for the visitors.
