White’s late goal enough to put side in pole position

ROTHERFIELD UNITED U18s took all the points in their latest South Chiltern Minor League encounter at THATCHAM TOWN HARRIERS U18s.

It was a slow start for the visitors with Thatcham providing the early pressure and Rotherfield struggling to produce any convincing football.

United almost fell behind after 25 minutes when with the Rotherfield keeper beaten to the ball on the edge of his area only a last-man tackle from Will Young prevented a certain goal.

Rotherfield started to create some chances later in the half with Fergus Crean going close but Thatcham still looked the more likely to score with Danny Hodder in the United goal needing to be on top form to tip a shot over the bar ensuring the half finished goalless.

Early in the second half Rotherfield put together swift attacking moves with Markland Tidswell and Patrick Gardener going close. With only five minutes gone Oly Williams hustled a through ball to Gardener who put the visitors ahead.
