Boys help shoppers to fund football trip

PLAYERS from AFC Henley under-13s raised money for their Easter tour of Germany by packing customers’ bags at Tesco.

Ten members of the team wore their team strips as they spent six hours at the store, off Reading Road, Henley, helping customers with their shopping.

The boys raised £463.32, almost half of their fund-raising target of £1,000, which will go towards the cost of their travel.

Store manager Roly Lumm organised the initiative after agreeing to sponsor the team’s strip earlier this year.

Hayden Palmer, 12, said: “The hardest bit was putting things in the bags in the right order. To start off with we weren’t very good but we got better as they day went on.”
