Watlington crash out of cup

HOSTS Watlington Town Reserves crashed out of the Clarendon Cup when they went down 2-1 at home to Mansfield Road Reserves on Saturday.

Town started the game the brighter of the two sides and created some half-chances without threatening the Mansfield Road goal.

A good through ball was played by Connor B’layachi into the path of Sam Carter-Knight who just needed a touch to place the ball high to the keeper’s right to give Town a lead.

Town’s good form continued for much of the half but the visitors came back into the game with some chances of their own, including one that forced a last-ditch clearance from centre back Dave Hansford.

The visitors equalised when the ball was played across the Watlington box and fullback Richard Edmondson curled the ball inside the far post from outside Town’s area.
