THE Oratory School had mixed fortunes in their recent matches against St John’s, Leatherhead in the Southern Lent Term League for the Charles Alcock Cup.
The first team won a 4-2 thriller against last season’s league champions.
Oratory raced into a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes with goals from the captain Will Hollin and Harry Mew.
Early in the second half St John’s pulled a goal back. With the game evenly balanced, Paddy Birkholm fired home from the edge of the box before St John’s made it 3-2 after their striker was struck in the box by the Oratory’s keeper for the referee to award a penalty.
In the dying moments a telling delivery from a Jack Hollister free kick outside the box was calmly put away with a glancing header from Will Lovett.
