VISITORS Woodcote/Stoke Row returned from their Reading League Senior Division clash with bottom-of-the-table Wraysbury Village with all three points on Saturday despite putting in a below par performance.
Woodcote/Stoke Row made all the running early on but their finishing was disappointing with a number of players missing good chances.
The only goal of the first half came on 18 minutes when a Frank Dillon shot cannoned off a Wraysbury defender into Paul Knox’s path, and his shot managed to evade the keeper and nestle inside the far corner for 1-0.
The second half started with a slight improvement with Woodcote increasing the tempo, but this momentum was halted when they were reduced to 10 men as Dave Givens was shown a second yellow card and sent off.
The numerical superiority enabled Wraysbury to equalise. Woodcote dwelt on the ball in midfield, lost it and a quick pass over the top enabled the Wraysbury striker to outpace the defence and finish for 1-1.
