Satsumas put squeeze on Kites

SIXTH placed Henley Town failed to overcome a tenacious fourth-placed Wokingham and Emmbrook on Tuesday in Division 1 East of the Hellenic League, writes Graham Harris.

The Triangle ground was shrouded in mist, making visibility difficult on occasions.

Henley took the lead after five minutes when a corner from Karl Sims fell to Mitch Cooper whose firm shot found the roof of the net.

Kites’ keeper Steven Fairchild made an instinctive save from a powerful Luke Scope attempt while Nick Bateman came close for the Satsumas as Wokingham began to find their rhythm.

Play fluctuated from end to end with Wokingham equalising on the half-hour mark through a corner. A low ball was scrambled away by the Red Kites only as far as marauding forward Jake Butler, who found the net from close quarters.
