Woodcote suffer cup final heartache

WOODCOTE/STOKE ROW lost out in an 11-goal Reading Senior Cup final thriller at Madejski Stadium on Wednesday of last week.

Woodcote were the dominant side for most of the first half and took the lead after 10 minutes. Toby Nowell supplied a cross and James Worsfold shot home from close-range.

The goal celebrations were only just over when YMCA hit back with a goal of their own. A long ball out to the left was latched on to by Darrel Fairbrother in acres of space and he cut inside and finished emphatically.

Woodcote continued to cause problems down the flanks where the pace of Frank Dillon and Nowell spread panic in the defence time after time.

With a good supply of crosses from both flanks Woodcote took the lead again after 25 minutes when Darren Russell headed on at the near post, the keeper parried and James Worsfold was on hand to head home his second goal.
