THE Thai businesswoman heading the consortium on course to take over the Royals says she was drawn to the club by its distinctive blue and white hoops, writes Eddie Fitzmaurice.
Tycoon Khunying Sasima Srivikorn, 76, told Sir John Madejski in a radio interview this week that she was first drawn to the kit while studying in the UK as a young woman.
She told Sir John on Jackfm Berkshire: “Lots of people ask me, why Reading? Why don’t I buy Manchester United or Chelsea?
“When it was talked about, being involved in Reading, I said, Reading, I remember Reading in white and royal blue stripes so well because it’s such a beautiful colour and I loved it.”
Mrs Srivikorn, who was speaking from her new home on the Thames at Bray, added: “The people are all nice and it’s a very English atmosphere. I met the team and they are all very dedicated and have stayed with you a long, long time and everyone is so passionate about their work.”
