HENLEY TOWN entertain Chinnor in Division One (East) of the Uhlsport Hellenic League tomorrow, kick-off 3pm, and there is every indication that this will be a very close game, writes John Bailey.
In the two sides’ 50 previous meetings, which began 40 years ago, Chinnor have a slight advantage, with 24 victories to Henley’s 18.
Last season, however, when the Town lost 3-2 at Station Road in September but won the return match in March 3-0, they finished one place above their Oxfordshire rivals.
The positions would have been reversed had Henley not been awarded one point following the abandonment of their final game at Penn.
Similarly, this season each team has begun its league campaign with one win, one draw and one defeat - assuming that the result of last Saturday’s abandoned match at the Invesco Perpetual Triangle is allowed to stand.
