Town miss chance to race away with win

Henley Town 1, Chinnor 1

AS expected, last Saturday’s game on the Invesco Perpetual Triangle proved close and hard-fought, writes John Bailey.

But though the result was in accordance with form, Henley Town will feel they missed an opportunity to take all three Uhlsport Hellenic League points as they did all but put the ball in the net during the last 26 minutes when Chinnor were reduced to 10 men.

The visitors suffered a disruption after only six minutes, Chris Aslett going off with an ankle injury to be replaced by Jack Wright, but Warren Baxter was still pressured into bringing down Jamie Essex just outside the area, though the free kick was off-target.

An excellent combined move brought Henley’s best effort to date, which ended with Adam Jeffrey sending his shot just wide of the far post.
