WATLINGTON were set for a second weekend running of frustration at dropped points before Tom King converted Alex B’layachi’s cross-shot late on to put Town back to winning ways.
Town started the game confidently and played some good football and appeared to have the upper hand in the first half without creating many clear-cut chances. At the other end Denham was occasionally called into action with clearances and a couple of saves.
It was the visiting side who broke the deadlock on the half-hour when Conor B’layachi beat his man on the left-hand side of the box and was brought down. James McGraw confidently stroked home the resulting penalty.
Town were denied a second penalty when Martyn Newbold took the ball past the goalkeeper only to appear to have his legs taken away. Despite the visitors’ protests, nothing was given. Hagbourne improved in the second half and soon found themselves level when a lofted ball towards the edge of the Town box wasn’t fully cleared, Selwood appeared to be knocked off the ball, and the ball was knocked into an empty net after a first shot rebounded back off the post.
