A GUTSY display by Woodcote/Stoke Row on Saturday, with periods of good-flowing football, saw them extend their winning run to five matches, taking them into second place in the Thames Valley Premier League Premier Division.
The match opened with the home team forcing a series of corners and the Aldermaston keeper was soon in action to turn away strikes from Jim Hancock and Toby Nowell.
The visitors managed to weather the early storm and they created a chance of their own after five minutes with a striker beating keeper Pearson to the ball, but his weak shot was cleared by a covering defender.
Woodcote were soon back on the attack and Darren Russell’s header rebounded off the bar from Frank Dillon’s corner, Nowell was denied by a good save and James Worsfold headed narrowly wide.
Woodcote’s dominance was rewarded with a goal after 13 minutes, Dillon firing home after a flowing move involving Worsfold, Jake Dillon and Nowell.
