Porter heads side through

AFC HENLEY HURRICANES U13s progressed to the next round of the East Berks Alliance Cup thanks to a 2-1 win away to RUSHMOOR SAINTS TIGERS U13s.

After a nervy start, the Hurricanes found themselves 1-0 down after six minutes when a Tigers midfielder fired home unchallenged.

As the half progressed, the away side started to win the tackles and impose their swift, attacking style of play. Ben Stodolnic burst into the opposition box with five minutes of the half remaining to be upended by the defender at the third attempt. Jake Jones stepped up to calmly dispatch the resulting penalty to level the scores.

The second half saw the Hurricanes kick on, Jerome Rocks and Ben Lambourne now controlling the game in midfield, the latter hitting the post with a long range drive.

The defensive unit provided a solid foundation for the Hurricanes to build momentum, Rushmoor having the woodwork to thank again when Jones latched on to a through ball and beat the keeper, only to see his shot come back off the post.
