HOSTS Woodcote/Stoke Row comfortably progressed to the second round of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup as they defeated Oxon Senior League side Riverside 4-0 at the Recreation Ground.
The Oxford side arrived late and started with only 10 men, though they were quickly up to 11.
Inside the first minute Woodcote had the ball in the net, but Jake Dillon was adjudged offside. After a series of flowing moves which left their opponents chasing shadows, the home team took the lead after 10 minutes. Riverside failed to clear a Dave Givens corner and Sam Green volleyed home from 12 yards.
Goal number two followed five minutes later and once again it was Givens’ corner which did the damage as Jake Dillon rose above the defence to head the simplest goal.
Riverside posed little threat to the Woodcote goal, though they were aggrieved to have a penalty appeal turned down on 25 minutes.
