FOR the first 17 minutes of Tuesday’s Oxfordshire Intermediate Cup tie, Henley Town Reserves overwhelmed their opponents.
Concerted pressure ended with Matthew Brookling scoring a seventh minute goal. Brookling was again prominent when sending Oliver Barnett through to double the lead in the 14th minute, and Alasdair Brady added a third three minutes later.
At this stage it looked as though Henley would run up a cricket score, but, after they had adapted to the pace of the game, Goring showed improvement, and the rest of the first half was more even.
Though seldom getting out of their own half, Goring defended doggedly after the interval, and it was the 64th minute before Henley scored again, Brady shaking off defenders to find the net from close range. Brady completed his hat-trick in the 80th minute following a strong attack down the left.
