AFC HENLEY HURRICANES U12s got their East Berks League Alliance Division 1 season off to a flying start with a 6-0 victory over AFC CHARVIL U12s.

Henley took the lead after 16 minutes when Jake Jones picked the ball up mid way in the opposing half and found Oliver Andrews who slotted home.

On 40 minutes Henley doubled their lead with Andrews’ second of the match. Sam Clark then netted on 50 minutes with a left foot strike before Andrews completed his hat-trick three minutes later after good work by Hilary Lunn.

Adam Porter’s solo effort made it 5-0 before Clark got his second of the match on 57 minutes to complete the scoring.

Newly-promoted AFC HENLEY HURRICANES U11s started their East Berkshire Division 2 campaign with a hard earned 2-2 draw against FINCHAMPSTEAD U11s.

Henley went a goal down after failing to clear their lines following a goalmouth scramble. Following a period of pressure Henley equalised just before half time with a strike from debutant Ben Yeoman.

Henley took the lead in the second half following a deflected own goal after a shot by Lucas Pestana.

Finchampstead came back strongly towards the end and tested the resolute Henley defence led by man-of-the-match Ollie Leeman and Liam Hilditch.

A finger tipped save by Luke Taylor ensured Henley went into the final few minutes still ahead. However, the constant Finchampstead pressure eventually told as they equalised with a scrappy goal.
