ROTHERFIELD UNITED slipped to a 2-1 defeat against John Dell Senior Division league leaders READING YMCA at Bishopswood on Saturday.

After a sluggish start the hosts found themselves 2-0 down after 15 minutes.

Rotherfield got themselves back into the game when midfielder Tom Candish scored his fourth goal in five games after the keeper had blocked Keable’s effort.

The hosts struggled to create any further clear-cut chances and were indebted to keeper Wildish for keeping them in the game with a string of fine saves.

Jordan Cuthbert saw his shot from distance go narrowly wide at the end of the game for the hosts.

SONNING moved to the top of Division 1 following their 2-0 win over MORTIMER RESERVES at Pound Lane.

GORING UNITED picked up their second win of the season as they defeated WESTWOOD UNITED RESERVES 2-1 at home.

John Ramsay put the hosts in front just before half-time. The visitors equalised 20 minutes into the second half but five minutes later Tom Purser scored the winning goal for the hosts. Elsewhere in the division WARGRAVE ran out 3-1 winners at home to PINEWOOD.

The hosts took the lead after 20 minutes when Tom Brymer broke from midfield to latch on to a long ball and loop it over the keeper.

Pinewood equalised in the second half before Tom Bray put the hosts back in front from a tight angle. Callum Hunter wrapped up the scoring for Wargrave five minutes from time.

WOODCOTE/STOKE ROW RESERVES gained their second Division 2 win of the season as they beat THEALE RESERVES 2-1 at home. The hosts went a goal behind but headed goals by Jonny Clark and James Wheeler in the last 15 minutes of the first half wrapped up all three points.

Division 3 basement side SONNING A are still searching for their first point of the season after they went down to a 7-2 defeat at BARKHAM ATHLETIC. Edward Gadd and James Holder were on target for the visitors.

ROTHERFIELD UNITED RESERVES picked up a point as they drew 0-0 away to UNITY RESERVES.

In Division 4 WARGRAVE RESERVES slipped to their second defeat of the season as they lost 3-1 at FC READING DONS.
