AFC HENLEY HURRICANES U11s staged a brave fight back against ASCOT UNITED EAGLES U11s in the East Berks Cup on Saturday before eventually losing 4-3.

Henley started slowly, coming under pressure from Ascot, who play in a higher division in the league, who quickly went 1-0 up. Henley then conceded a soft goal just as they were getting back into the game.

Further mistakes brought on by renewed Ascot pressure cost Henley again and they conceded a further two goals to go into the final quarter 4-0 down despite further chances by Barker and man-of-the-match Ben Yeoman.

The fight back began with a through ball from Lucas Pestana that found Jem McAllister who fired home. Seconds later a McAllister corner was turned into his own net by an Ascot player.

Ben Hudson then put Barker through one-on-one against the Ascot keeper, and he kept his cool to score and make it 4-3 with 10 minutes remaining. An exciting finale saw Henley create further chances but they were unable to force the game into extra time.

AFC HENLEY HOTSPURS U10s made progress in the East Berks League Cup on Saturday as they ran out 5-4 winners away to MAIDENHEAD MAGPIES BLACKS U10s. Sami Morgan netted four goals while William Butler was also on target as Henley brushed aside the Division 2 side who compete two divisions above the visitors.
