EMMER GREEN went top of the Senior Division after winning 1-0 away to title rivals WRIGHTCHOICE GROUP.

Emmer Green were missing six players for the game due to work commitments and injuries and only had the one substitute on the bench.

The visitors scored the only goal of the game after 10 minutes when defender John Donegan won the ball and played it to his brother Daniel who played found the in-form Chris Read who took it on the chest and fired a volley into the top right hand corner.

Both teams created further chances to score with Read, Daniel Donegan and Dave Mortimer all going close for the visitors.

It was around the 70th minute that Kieran Chard netted four goals as SC UNITED maintained their Division 2 West promotion push thanks to an emphatic 8-1 victory away to THEALE.

The visitors took the lead after five minutes when midfielder Tim Bicknell knocked back a Chard cross into the path of Seve Mayberry who volleyed home from close range.

A minute later Chard squared for Danny Jakubiszyn to stab home just inside the area to make it 2-0. With quarter of an hour gone Chard got on the score sheet having collected a Mayberry through ball and calmly finishing one-on-one with the keeper.

Theale grabbed a lifeline just before half-time after their striker got on the end of a long ball over the top and teed up his strike partner to tap in from just inside the box.

Left winger Arran Finch clipped a Seve Mayberry cross into the net from a tight angle in the opening minute of the second half before Chard scored his second of the game to make it 5-1 picking up an Arran Finch pass and lobbing the goalkeeper from 30 yards.

Mayberry scored his second on the hour mark with a 40-yard strike which swerved into the top corner.

Chard completed his hat-trick after converting a penalty which he had been given having been hauled down in the box. Chard went on to score his fourth and United’s eight after Mayberry’s mazy run had wriggled through five Theale defenders before squaring the ball to Chard for a simple tap-in.

MAPLEDURHAM picked up a point from their 1-1 Division 3 East clash with FC BERKSALONA at Palmer Park. Following a goalless first half Berksalona took the lead when a ball over the top found their striker who lobbed the Mapledurham keeper. Mapledurham drew level after five minutes with a goal from Dan Salisbury. In Division 4 West, basement side GORING UNITED RESERVES lost out to second-from- bottom KENNET VALLEY 6-3.
