Two late goals prove decisive

SHIPLAKE COLLEGE are still seeking their first win of the season after they went down to defeat against Cokethorpe School.

SHIPLAKE COLLEGE are still seeking their first win of the season after they went down to defeat against Cokethorpe School.

With the score tied at 1-1 entering the final five minutes of the match, Shiplake were dealt two late blows to lose in a cruel fashion.

Adam Hunt produced a man-of-the-match display on the wing, threatening the Cokethorpe defence with a number of menacing runs for Shiplake.

Shiplake conceded from the first corner of the match, as a deep cross was nodded into the bottom corner by the Cokethorpe skipper.

Lone striker Ruairi Van Raalte powered down the left-hand channel for Shiplake and after his cutback was only partially cleared, captain Freddie Ireland fired home to equalise.

The second half was an even battle with neither side creating many clear cut chances.

In the latter stages of the match Shiplake legs grew weary and the failure to track a midfield runner proved costly as Cokethorpe fired in the deciding goal. They added a third in the dying minutes.
