Kemp free-kick sets up semi-final clash

A LATE Grant Kemp free-kick for Henley Town dumped Hurst out of the Reading Senior Cup at the quarter-final stage

A LATE Grant Kemp free-kick for Henley Town dumped Hurst out of the Reading Senior Cup at the quarter-final stage.

Henley put out a makeshift side when they  visited East Park Farm on Saturday and even up to kick-off manager Craig Sumner was still juggling his starting 11 and ended up playing several players out of position.

Both teams found it difficult to play five-to-10-yard balls to each other on a bumpy pitch in what was an uneventful first half with few chances being created by either side.

In the 74th minute the game changed as Grant Kemp was fouled just outside the area and he drove the free kick very low past the Hurst wall into the bottom-right-side of the goal. Hurst thenhad a couple of dangerous attacks in the closing minutes which nearly levelled the game.

Henley will Binfield at home in the semi-final.

Team: Nunn, Cripps (Howell 77), Faherty, Cooper, Thomas, Povey, Moore, Kemp, Clark, Godwin, Bennett.
