LAST week was a satisfying one for Henley Town’s youth team, who won twice within the space of three days.
From early in the season, Didcot Town, Aylesbury and Wantage Town established a large lead over all the other teams in the Central Division of the Allied Counties League, but Henley became one of the few sides to lower Didcot’s colours when they beat them 2-1 on the Invesco Perpetual Triangle in one of their best displays of the season.
The Railwaymen did make Henley’s task a little lighter by getting a player sent off in the 49th minute, when the score was 1-1. Will Corbishley had given the Red Kites an early lead, but, after Didcot had equalised, the score remained at 1-1 until the 86th minute, when Ollie Harris scored the winner for the home side.
Two days later, the Town gained another 2-1 home win, this time against Kidlington. Kwame Missah headed Henley in front after 25 minutes. The visitors equalised on 53 minutes but with 10 minutes remaining Missah netted the winner.
The Sunday team completed their fixtures on Thursday of last week with a 2-0 home defeat against champions Southcote. Henley finished in the penultimate position in the Premier Division of the Reading and District Sunday League.
