HENLEY TOWN found temselves on the wrong end of a 5-1 score line at Penn and Tylers Green just a week after chalking up their first win of the season by the same margin in Division 1 East of the Uhlsport Hellenic League last Saturday.
The hosts raced into a 2-0 half-time lead with goals from strikers Harman and Thompson in a match played out in soaring temperatures in the low 80s.
Henley came out fighting in the second half and went close in the opening five minutes following good shots by Richard Bennett and Thompson-Wheeler.
The Red Kites then had a good 20 minute period which finally paid dividends as Bennett received a throw-in from Grant Kemp in the Penn area where he turned his defender and shot past the keeper to reduce the arrears to 2-1.
The goal gave the Red Kites more belief as they pressed for an equaliser but in doing so in the 88th minute the hosts broke away with Thompson netting his second of the match.
The goal knocked the wind out of the sails of Henley as the hosts went on to add two more goals in quick succession through Weller and Thompson, who completed his hat-trick in added on time.
Henley Town: Fairchild, Slocombe, Thomas, Bygrave, Nunn, Kemp, Mew, Bennett, Clark (Slade, 70 mins), Moore (Thompson-Wheeler, 38 mins).
